2nd Trimester - Bliss?????

I was reading an article on babycenter.com and it went into detail about how the 2nd trimester is the time that the mother gets her energy back and feels her best..........................well, ummm........................not the case for me. "I think mine are broken", like Julia Roberts says in the film Pretty Woman while sitting at her first play trying to get delicate binoculars to work.

I feel unmotivated, tired, sleepy, cranky and most of all BLAAAH! Roberts' trying to be as patient as possible but I'm to helping the matter any. What's really going on? Am I crazy? Am I just broken? LOL, of course I'm not but I feel like I am. Any suggestions? Any words of encouragement? HELP!

girl, pregnancy is not a one-size-fits all experience. just be, and try not to worry if you're not feeling the way babycenter.com says you should. your doctor/midwife will let you know if there's something you need to be concerned about. you probably will get some energy going soon (you just started trimester two, right?), but if you don't, that's fine, too, in my opinion. you're not supposed to have morning sickness in your second trimester either, but some people are sick all the way through. everyone is different.

i would take advantage of the time to rest. exercise if you feel up to it. that helped me. water aerobics is great.

as for the crankiness ... i think pregnancy just makes you cranky. it's not a license to go crazy on people, but generally those around you extend grace. take some time out to do something that makes you happy, and remember you are growing a human being! that takes lots and lots of energy! that baby is sapping everything he or she needs from you. no wonder you're tired! hang in there. :)

First of all you are NOT broken! The person who commented above was right, every pregnancy is different, every body is different. I received my energy at the end of my 2nd trimester and it lasted until the middle of my 3rd trimester. Where my sister in law had energy from the begining of her 2nd trimester to the very end. You are just starting your 2nd trimester...give it some time, you will have energy. Although I do think you need to take it easy and get more rest...you seem to always be busy! When I was preggo, almost every woman I know would tell me to rest and sleep as much as possible...sad to say that I didn't listen which lead to many tired and sleepless nights....she may be telling you to sleep and rest more? Try using a maternity ball, it helped me tremendously. Excercise only if you feel up to it, I walked during my whole 3rd trimester which helped me. Also ask Rob to rub your back and feet with Lavender lotion, Rick would do that for me every night while I practiced my breathing techniques. Soft worship and classical music would help me to relax as well. We also did all of the above while in labor, which was a blessing in itself!! Rick truly blessed me which made the whole process even better! So my advice to you would be...please get get all the rest you can! She'll be moving around soon, which will be wonderful! You can even get a pair of headphones and put them on your stomach for the baby to listen to some worship and/or scripture, that helped her to relax and helped me to sleep! Love ya my friend..my God be with you and your little miracle!
